Investments in production and research projects
The ZAZA TIMBER factory in Jelgava region, where glued laminated timber structures up to 32 meters long are manufactured, approved several significant investment projects in 2024. One of them is a digital transformation project. Its goal is to increase the company’s post-processing capacities with a high-performance programmable computer-controlled CNC machine tool equipped with 13.5 m feed/output tables. It ensures automated placement of workpieces on the machine tool and rotation, performs more complex and more precise cuts of parts. The total budget of the project is EUR 594,000, of which EUR 200,000 is financed by the European Union; the implementation period is until October 2025.
By attracting European Union funding, ZAZA TIMBER launched two science and development projects in 2024 together with cooperation partners. Their goal is the development of new products and innovative technologies. The total budget of the projects is EUR 1,810,000, of which EUR 1,052,090 is co-financed by European Union funds. One of the projects involves developing a modeling solution and a bending press for the production of large-format free-form wooden structures, while the other project involves developing a modular DIY solution for a pergola using bent wooden structures. This solution provides the opportunity for customers to customize and assemble a pergola according to their wishes and budget, using parts with calculated permissible loads and application possibilities.
Major projects of the year
In 2024, ZAZA TIMBER implemented several projects. The largest joint projects in which all three ZAZA TIMBER companies participated – a structural design office, a glulam manufacturer and a construction team – are the “Circle K” new concept electric charging station in Sweden, the “Latvijas Finieris” seedling nursery “Zābaki” and the second phase of construction of the “TZMO Latvija” office and warehouse building in Riga.
In 2024, the ZAZA TIMBER factory manufactured and supplied glued laminated timber building structures both in the existing markets – the Baltic States and the Nordic countries, and in new markets. For the first time, orders for buildings in the USA were implemented. In 2024, the ZAZA TIMBER structural design team worked on several international and local projects, designing building structures, performing calculations, developing detailed designs in Latvia, Sweden, Poland, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Australia, New Zealand. In 2024, the ZAZA TIMBER construction company implemented projects in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Latvia.
